The Yacht-Master is Rolex's most underrated sport watch. While the Submariner dominates the diving watch conversation and the GMT-Master II attracts frequent travelers, the Yacht-Master occupies a specific niche: a sport watch with nautical heritage, available in case sizes from 37mm to 42mm, and distinguished by its bidirectional rotatable bezel with raised hour markings. It is also available in platinum, gold, and two-tone configurations that no other Rolex sport reference offers in this combination.
The Yacht-Master Reference Landscape
Rolex produces the Yacht-Master in three case sizes: 37mm, 40mm, and 42mm. The super clone market focuses primarily on the 40mm and 42mm because they are the most recognizable and the most frequently requested.
**Yacht-Master 40 (ref 126621)**: The standard Yacht-Master at 40mm, available in Everose gold and Oystersteel two-tone (Rolesor) with a chocolate or black dial. The Rolesor configuration — stainless steel case with Everose gold bezel, crown, and bracelet center links — is the most distinctive two-tone application in the Rolex sport watch lineup.
**Yacht-Master 42 (ref 226659)**: The largest Yacht-Master with an 18k white gold case and blue dial. The most impressive configuration in the lineup and the most expensive genuine reference, retailing at approximately $37,000. As a super clone, the white gold PVD construction delivers the visual result at a fraction of the cost.
**Yacht-Master II (ref 116681)**: The regatta countdown timer variant with a programmable 60-second countdown bezel. Significantly more complex than the standard Yacht-Master and less commonly cloned. For buyers who want the Yacht-Master aesthetic, the standard 40mm or 42mm is the right choice.
What Makes the Yacht-Master Distinctive
Three elements distinguish the Yacht-Master from any other Rolex sport watch.
**The bidirectional bezel**: Unlike the Submariner's unidirectional dive timing bezel, the Yacht-Master's bezel rotates in both directions. The 60-minute scale has raised, polished hour markings that catch light differently than the engraved Submariner bezel. The metal bezel with raised markings is more visually complex and requires different tooling to replicate than a ceramic insert.
**The two-tone and precious metal options**: The Yacht-Master is the only Rolex sport watch available from the factory in significant precious metal configurations. The Everose Rolesor (two-tone), full Everose gold, and white gold variants are standard catalog references, not special order items. This gives the Yacht-Master a different position in the luxury hierarchy than the stainless Submariner.
**The Oysterflex bracelet option**: The current 42mm Yacht-Master (226659) uses the Oysterflex — a rubber bracelet with an embedded titanium or nickel-titanium alloy blade that gives it structural rigidity while maintaining the comfort of rubber. Super clone Oysterflex bracelets replicate this correctly with a rubber strap and integrated folding clasp.
The Movement in the Yacht-Master Super Clone
The genuine Yacht-Master 40 and 42 both use the Caliber 3235 — the same movement as the Submariner Date. This works in favor of the super clone market because the VS Factory cloned 3235 is the best-developed movement clone available and is used directly in the Yacht-Master clone.
The cloned 3235 in the Yacht-Master context provides the same 70-hour power reserve, 28,800 vph beat rate, and plus or minus five to eight seconds per day regulated accuracy as the Submariner clone.
Two-Tone Rolesor Execution
The most popular Yacht-Master configuration for super clones is the Everose Rolesor — stainless steel case and bracelet with rose gold-colored PVD applied to the bezel, crown, and bracelet center links. This is a technically demanding clone because the PVD must be applied precisely to the correct surfaces without bleeding onto the brushed steel portions of the bracelet.
Quality Yacht-Master super clones use multi-layer rose gold PVD that resists wear through on the bezel and bracelet center links. Single-layer PVD wears through at high-contact points (bezel edges, bracelet center link edges) within months of daily wear. Confirm with the QC photos that the PVD edges at the bezel are clean and consistent.
The chocolate dial Rolesor configuration is the most popular combination: warm brown dial, rose gold accents, oystersteel body. It is both the most distinctive Yacht-Master look and the most photographically striking of the available combinations.
White Gold 42mm: The Statement Piece
The Yacht-Master 42mm in white gold (226659) is the most visually dramatic Yacht-Master super clone available. The white gold PVD case construction, blue lacquer dial, and white gold-toned Oysterflex bracelet create a watch that reads as extremely expensive from any distance.
This configuration has no close equivalent in the Rolex super clone catalog. The Submariner does not come in white gold. The GMT-Master II does not have a white gold option. The Day-Date uses yellow gold or Everose, not white gold. If you want a large, white gold, blue dial Rolex sport watch, the Yacht-Master 42mm is the only reference.
Price: $650 to $850 depending on configuration.
Who the Yacht-Master Clone Is For
The Yacht-Master is for buyers who:
- Want a Rolex sport watch with precious metal character without buying a full gold Day-Date
- Prefer the bidirectional bezel over the Submariner's unidirectional diving bezel
- Want a two-tone or precious metal watch that reads as sport rather than dress
- Want something distinctive in the Rolex lineup — not the most common sport watch
It is not ideal for buyers who need the diving rating as a practical function (the Submariner's unidirectional bezel is more operationally appropriate), those who want the GMT complication, or those who want the cleanest, most conservative Rolex.
